The Hawks are off to a great start in Season 2013 with two wins over the Dragons at Rathmines.
The Dragons are a new club to the VAFA this year moving over from Division 2 in the Southern Football League.
The Seniors match was a competitive affair with both teams missing some early chances at goal. The Dragons set up well and moved the ball quickly. They are a fit and strong outfit that will go well in Division 4 this year.
The Hawks showed glimpses of the way we aim to play this year, but with half the side playing their first game for the club, it will take some time to come together.
Inaccurate kicking proved costly in the end for the Dragons and the Hawks ran away with an 11 point victory.

The Reserves got off to a great start kicking with the breeze in the first quarter and opening up a 5 goal lead at the first break. We then held this lead kicking against the breeze in the second taking a 41 point lead in to half time.
Inaccurate kicking in the 3rd cost us a bit but we managed to hold off an enthusiastic Dragons outfit to keep our lead at 45 points at the last change. The Dragons are a fit team and ran out the game well despite the gap in scores. The Hawks ended up with a 45 point win and will look to build on this against North Brunswick next week.
