2012 Senior Coach Appointment

by Pat Clancey on October 5, 2011

To the Hawthorn Amateur Football Club community,

It is with great pleasure that I announce Rick Barkla as the senior coach for 2012.
Rick has made it through three grueling interviews with our coaching panel and came out well on top of other candidates. Senior captain Rick Ogge and I both had the pleasure of sitting in on the third interview and were really impressed with Rick’s vision for our club.

Rick played a few games with us in the seniors in 2011 before injury cut his season short. Previous to that he held a leadership and Assistant Coach role for Newstead Football club in 2009 in their premiership year. He has played football for over 20 years including 10 years of senior football in some of the best Metropolitan and Country leagues. He has played under some very successful coaches including Wayne Harmes, Adrian Whitehead and Shane Robertson, all ex AFL players.

Rick brings with him exceptional leadership qualities and a focus on breeding a successful culture. He believes we have a great platform on which to build for 2012.

Congratulations to you Rick, from all at the Hawks Nest.

GO HAWKS!

Pat Clancey
President
