It was a day of mixed results for the Hawks in the Qualifying finals on Saturday, with the Seniors losing to the Northern Blues and the Reserves beating North Brunswick.
The reserves started slowly in the warm conditions, not kicking a goal in the first quarter, but thanks to some good work from Martin and Collins they were able to minimise the damage. Post that it was a different story though, with the boys hitting the scoreboard with Jacko (3 goals) and Dan (2 goals), whilst keeping the Bulls goalless for the remainder of the game and running out 36 point winners. Better players were Dos, Stoner and Emu.
The Seniors had a hard day at the office against the fast running Northern Blues, being outclassed and outworked to the tune of 53 points!
The youthful Blues seemed to have all of the run in the first half and put us to the sword early, a 5 goal to 0 second quarter really hurting the boys before a much improved second half display. Noons really lifted the side with a move into the Ruck, also managing to kick 2 goals, and as usual Pritchard, Davies and White lead the way with their attack on the ball. The Seniors will be looking forward making the most of their well earned double chance and to the return of some regulars this weekend to help lift the side into the Grand Final!
It is a great effort by the club to have both sides playing for spots in their respective Grand Finals, and the details are as follows:
